Taiwan Trip - Part 1

During the Mid-Autumn break, we decided to take the kids to Taiwan for a week.  We spent 2 days in Taipei and then took the high-speed train to a southern area of Taiwan to Kenting for 5 days. These pictures are from the first two days in Taipei.

I really liked Taipei.  People were polite and waited their turn in line. They didn't spit in the street. Pedestrians have the right away and you didn't feel like you were going to get killed in the streets. The subways were not packed either.

Since we booked our planes tickets late, we had to buy one first class ticket so that we could all be on the same flight. Greg had decided that I was going to sit in First Class.  It was so nice. In this plane, it had the seats that make into a bed. They put white linen on my tray before serving me lunch. I felt really lonely without the kids and Greg.  The kids were so mad when we got off the plane. They wanted to be in First Class too.  Jackson told me later that if the plane crashed that I would die first since I was up front. He's decided that he doesn't want to fly First Class.  For all of our train trips, we have been going First Class.  Now the kids expect that.

Greg had to stay in Taiwan a few days for a business trip.  The kids and I had to come home by ourselves. We took an hour taxi ride from Kenting to an airport in southern Taiwan. We then flew to Hong Kong and then Shanghai. In Shanghai, we took the Maglev train to the subway and then a taxi. We didn't get home until 10:30pm. I was tired and it was hard to get the kids up the next morning for school.

Great trip!!

Taipei 101, 2nd tallest building in the world.

Landscape in Taipei is different than Shanghai. Lots of mountains.

This is a big intersection in Taipei. During certain times of day, traffic stops in all directions and you can walk across the middle of an intersection.

This was a tower at the Taipei zoo.  It was a big giraffe.

We took a gondola ride over the mountains.

View of Taipei from the top of the mountain.

You can see Taipei 101 and see how big it is compared to other buildings.

Jackson was playing with a grasshopper.

We stopped on the side of the mountain and had some tea.

Zhinan Temple

Art work made of car parts. It looked like the tin man on Wizard of Oz.

I can't remember if this was McDonalds or KFC. The kids and I had lots of fast food in Taiwan.

This kitty was in a pet shop. It looked like a leopard. Anna wanted to take it home. I told her that we have 6 cats already that we are feeding.

Lungshan Temple

Most temples have many dragons and lions.
